This is our experimental song that is almost progressive rock, with strong elements of folk music vocals and featuring a distorted bass guitar sound. The song is divided in 3 sections starting from folk rock and ending with a melodic metal outro. Once again, our new single is entirely different than our previous ones: ‘Nomad’ and ‘She’s In Black’. Originally, we weren’t aiming for it to be a single rather as a song that supports the concept album. The song is basically about experiencing nostalgia and the flow of memories and the emotions towards them induced by a nice, light drizzle and a change in weather. It’s a play of deliberately incomplete bits and pieces of actual memories and nostalgia and the narrator’s current emotions towards them. The idea of ‘drizzle’ is that after a light rain or drizzle, the smell of rain reminds the narrator and keeps him nostalgic until he takes another sip of ‘coffee’ to come back to the present. This is the only song in which we use the band name ‘petrichor’ to rightly project an image of what the band is all about. A number of interesting symbols are used such as the word ‘cassette’ that infers 90’s nostalgia, ‘move on to another canvas’, ‘a lake on the moon’ which doesn’t exist, comparing lost humans to the lonely planet earth in the vast universe deriving pessimism from the cosmos. Back to reality, the trees seem to react to the narrator’s state of mind, and the one-time chorus rambles on with the conscious mind singing ‘na nana na’ to invalidate a flashback of past memories while the narrators habitual ‘appetite for melancholy’ is asking for more of it. Finally, the song completely transforms into an outro that is a melodic rock piece, ending the song with a completely different energy while keeping a riff that is relatable and nostalgic for all.
